Ghost Stories of Missouri

Ghost Stories of Missouri
A.S. Mott
I was disappointed in this book. It really didnt have any "scary" stories. It was a quick read and if you dont have anything else to do it would pass on afternoon.

LA Candy

LA Candy
Lauren Conrad
For a first novel I didnt think it was too bad. However, I did find myself wanting to hurry up and get to the end. I think it would suit a younger genre much better then my own.
I will definitely pass this one on to my younger niece.

The Bell Jar

The Bell Jar
Sylvia Plath
This book haunted me a bit. I kept thinking about Sylvia's suicide. I wonder if she knew while penning each page that she would end her life. I liked how it was written in first person. I could easily follow along with her.

Fahrenheit 451

Fahrenheit 451
Ray Bradbury

This book was awesome. The full version written in 1953 showed what the future held for books in society. It was interesting to see how books were not allowed. I couldnt help but think about the "kindle" and wondered if it would someday bring an end to the paperbooks and leather bounds in our future.

A Clockwork Orange

A Clockwork Orange
Anthony Burgess
I didn't read this in school nor did I see the Stanley Kubrick film version.
I couldn't get past the slang. All the glazzies, tolchocks, ptitsas and golosses and so on were too distracting for my taste.
I did find the method of making someone "sane" intriguing. I wonder if it would really work?
Sadly, I didn't enjoy this modern day classic as much as I had hoped.

The Afterlife Experiments

The Afterlife Experiments
Gary E. Schwartz, PH.D.
with William L. Simon
Forward by Deepak Chopra

This was a wonderful book. My favorite readings were the ones conducted by John Edwards.
Because of my own personal experiences, I do believe in life after death. It was interesting to read about scientific data that even the skeptics would find hard to repute.
If the Living Soul hypothesis is ever accepted and believed by all, it would change everything.

90 Minutes in Heaven

90 Minutes in Heaven
Don Piper with Cecil Murphey

This was another inspirational book for me. Doesn't everyone want "proof" that Heaven really doesn exist. It did leave me wanting to know more but I guess that is the makings of a good book. I have a rather weak stomach and some of the details of his accident were a little graphic for my taste. Others might not think so.

If one ever doubts they have purpose on this earth, they need to think again. We are all here for a reason. Cliché, but true.

The Shack

The Shack
William P. Young

This book was recommended to me by a Christian friend. It showed me a different and somewhat funny perspective to the Trinity.

It reinforced my belief that God is always with us. Good times and bad.
I opened my own tin box and set a few things free.

The Last Lecture

The Last Lecture
Randy Pausch

I bet I'm about the last person in town to finally read this book. It was a very easy read and I completed it in one afternoon. I loved this book. I found it touching and inspirational. What a great tribute to his family, friends and colleagues. I never had a dream list as a child. Today I do.
